The process to join the SWAMID federation typically begins with the decision to set up an Identity Provider (IdP) or a Service Provider (SP). For information on eduroam please go to www.eduroam.se.

Research and education institutions (eg universities) typically should become a member of SWAMID whereas an organisation providing services that need to consume identities from SWAMID members do not need to become a member or sign contracts with SWAMID.

Provide services to SWAMID members

A company or organization that wants to provide services that rely on identities provided by SWAMID members does not usually need to become a member of SWAMID. For the SWAMID WebSSO technology profile the service provider only has to accept the SWAMID Metadata Terms of Use. This acceptance does not have to be communicated to SWAMID.

  1. Review and decide to accept the SWAMID Metadata Terms of Use.
  2. Ask SWAMID Operations to register and publish metadata for the service provider.
